Over
The Rainbow Association is a not-for-profit organization
that provides accessible housing and job opportunities for persons
with disabilities.
The Association was formed in 1974 by individuals who asked the
question, "How can people with severe physical disabilities live
independently?" Currently we operate and maintain two award winning
apartment buildings designed for independent living for persons
with disabilities. The first is located on the north side of Chicago,
Illinois. The second and newest facility is located in Evanston,
Illinois and features a job center that provides work and job training
for residents and other local employees. A new 24-unit barrier-free
building is now being developed in Waukegan, Illinois. In addition,
Rainbow has site control of a 2-1/2 acre property in Matteson, Illinois
and has applied for federal funding to underwrite construction for
that project.
Mission
The mission of the Over The Rainbow Association is to provide persons
with physical disabilities, who use wheel chairs, the opportunity
to live independently in accessible housing and to support themselves
through meaningful employment.
