Working closely with architects, industrial designers, appliance
manufacturers, loaned executives and many talented volunteers,
Over The Rainbow has pioneered the expansion of the definition
of wheelchair accessibility for apartment living. A remote
controlled lift has been developed with help of Sears engineers
which allows individuals to transfer unaided from their wheelchair
to the bed, bathtub or toilet.

A new kitchen design was developed with the help of Whirlpool and
Frigidaire engineers with modified appliances, cabinets and sinks.
At the touch of a lever, kitchen cabinets lower so food is within
reach. Refrigerators have large padded handles and shelves slide
out for easy access. Everything is positioned at wheelchair height.
